Election fever

I woke up with a feeling of dread this morning.  Waiting to see what had happened in the local elections.  While I was sure that it would be a whitewash (no surprise there then) I couldn't believe that there was total media silence on the mayoral elections.  Sure, they have to count the votes, and there is nothing to be reported until the result is known, but this usually doesn't stop the speculation and endless chatting about who it will be and what it will mean.  It has been an eerie silence.  Waiting for the results.

I do know that the results are not going to be good.  If the Tories have trumped Labour as resoundingly as it looks, then Ken should start packing and Londoners will have to grit their teeth and prepare themselves for the Johnson era.

As crap as Britain seems sometimes, we are lucky enough to live in a civilised country where we don't have to fear for our lives just because we voted.  We are lucky to be able to vote at all. Why are we still so apathetic?

It may be that politics doesn't seem to give us many choices at the moment.  How can you choose between two or three crap parties?  I don't know.  Something I do know is that until people galvanise themselves, get back into politics and use the voting system, we are going to be in deep shit.

And I will be pondering that.  Pissed off with half the population of London and look for a nice little place in the country.  As if ...

Sounds like we're in for a new word - you've been Borissed - meaning your work environment has been taken over by a bufoon.
